Women’s Trip Trekking and Empowerment In Nepal

GATA’s Women’s Trekking Trip in the Himalayas of Nepal is the perfect trip for adventurous women interested in challenging themselves and supporting local Nepalese female communities. GATA welcomes women of all ages and walks of life to join us in Nepal for 12 days of female fellowship, cultural exchange and outdoor adventures.

Dates: November 18 – 30, 2020

Our women’s trips aim to inspire women from around the world to embrace their strength and step forward as leaders.

Trip Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival

Arrive in Kathmandu where you will meet your trip leader.  You will be introduced to the trip notes (itinerary and work shop) and as a group we will head to the  Hotel Aryatara/Hotel Holy Himalaya (or similar), located in the center of Thamel.   We will have time to get to know each other.

Day 2: Cultural Tour

After breakfast, we will visit the secret Hindu temple of Pashupatinath and old city Patan. 

Day 3: Bhaktapur

Today, we will visit the Buddhist stupa Boudhanath and old UNESCO site Bhaktapur City. 

Day 4: Travel to Pokhara

Morning flight to Pokhara and transfer to Three Sisters Guesthouse.  We will explore the magnificent lake area.  At 4:30pm, we will meet for the trek orientation, meeting with staff and presentation of EWN activities.  We will dine with our guides that evening.  

Day 5: Trekking Day 1: Pokhara – Nayapul – Purna Gaun

A one hour drive takes us to Nayapul ~ the startingpoint of our trek. From Nayapul, we take the West-Northward path and cross a suspension bridge overthe Modi river. We walk through Deupur village. Thetrail is gently uphill until we reach Purna Gaun wherewe spend our first night. Hiking hours: 5

Day 6: Trekking Day 2: Purna Gaun – Lespar

From Purna Gaun, we walk through villages andfarming fields for about one hour, before entering aforest and continuing to Lespar. We spend the night ina basic hotel. Hiking hours: 5

Day 7: Trekking Day 3: Lespar – Nangi Village

From Lespar, we climb steep hills and forests, all theway up to Nangi village. Nangi village is a beautifuland famous village. It is well known for its WirelessInternet Service introduced by Mr. Mahabir Pun whoreceived the Magasese International Award.Lespar has a Secondary school, telephonefacilities and a Nepalese brown paper factory whichwith an optional visit. The Dhaulagiri Mountainrange is visible from the village. Hiking hours: 5

Day 8: Trekking Day 4: Nangi – Phulbari

Today we walk for 5 hours to Phulbari  at 9514 feet (2900 M), ourdestination for the day. Hiking hours: 5Optional trip to Mohare camp: We climb uphill to MohareCamp (3300m) through a wild forest and reach aYak hut. From Mohari Camp, we will enjoy an amazingpanoramic view of the Mountains. Walking hours: 2

Day 9: Trekking Day 5: Phulbari – Ghorepani – Ulleri

After enjoying the sunrise and magnificent mountainviews, we start our journey slowly by walking downhillthrough a trail surrounded by rhododendron, pine, oakand Juniper trees. We will hear and see variousspecies of birds on our way to the famous viewpoint of Poonhill. We will then continue down toGhorepani for about one hour and we then continuethrough forest of Rhododendron and reach Ulleri.Hiking hours: 6

Day 10: Trekking Day 6: Ulleri – Nayapul – Pokhara

For our last day, we will head down  to  Nayapul at 3,510 feet (1070 m) leaving the mountains behind us and completing our 7 day trek. Hiking hours: 4  1.5 drive to Pokhara at 3 sisters guesthouse.

Day 11: Women’s NGO

We will visit Women’s NGO in Pokhara to wrap up our women’s empowerment adventure.  Late afternoon flight to Kathmandu–time for shopping in Kathmandu. 

Day 12: Flight home

Transfer to airport for flight home.
